An Important Reminder

It's another one of those days here at Keeley Kraft.. I'm pooped after another long day of werk.  I been etching glasses like a damn fool, don'tcha know?!  But I don't want to leave y'all hanging, my BFFs.  So, I just want to leave you with one very important piece of advice before the day turns into the next in my section of the world:

Don't Forget to Be Awesome Keeley Kraft.jpg

Not to be taken lightly, folks.

This girl got the memo:

Say WHAAA?!

Say WHAAA?!

And so did this bathroom:

A-W-E-S-O-M-E

A-W-E-S-O-M-E

I'm thinking this has to be the same room, right?

Paris apartment of Jean-Louis Denio.jpg

I'm too tired to research, so I'm going to go with reader popular opinion instead (SO much more reliable, obviously! ).

And..... That's All Folks!  You're welcome for my daily dose of nonsense!  XOXO

Welcome Back to the Grind-er

Hey there party people! Welcome back to the grind...  I'm extrapolating here, but based on the mountain of work I had to accomplish and for the most part did, today felt particularly grind-worthy... I was a hustlin' today, yo!

Speaking of "the grind" do y'all remember that "coffee grinder" move that when you were young and you mastered it, you felt like you were on your way to becoming a legit break dancer?  You know, the one where you would spin your one leg all the way around in a circle with your hands planted on the ground and you would do a little hop with your other leg when your spin leg reached an obstacle (otherwise known as your other leg) during your rotation?  (It fell either closely behind or ahead of "the worm" in terms of difficulty)... And then, when you got a little older, you realized there actually was a big difference between the coffee grinder and say, "real break dancing" such as successfully executing a head spin or a "windmill"?  Anybody?  Anybody else harbor dreams of becoming a professional break dancer when they grew up, only to have their dreams shattered by.. reality?

Well, in case you forgot about this lackluster move, BGirl Terra will remind you in the following video as well as simultaneously blowing your mind.. as the coffee grinder is literally the LEAST of her tricks..

For your viewing pleasure, may I present the most legit 6 year old break dancer I have ever come across:

As excited as I got about this it was immediately followed by a quick bout of depression when I realized this little nugget is cooler at 6 than I ever have been or will be in my life.  Let's be honest, she pretty much puts every self-respecting dancer to utter shame.

But more importantly than letting this post get you down, let's just acknowledge that:

1. Terra, hands down (literally), knows how to get down

and

2. This "BGirl" is one B.A.M.F.

And channel the inevitable envy into swagger by taking a cue from the BGirl wonder that is Terra.  Way to get down with get down, gurl!  Ima gonna ride that mantra straight through this week.

Cave Culture

This weekend, my sister and I are going to this secret cave that we know of within the greater Los Angeles area.  It's a fairly spacious, one room sand cave with a "cavernous" entry.  Near the middle of the cave there is a hole in the "ceiling" that is exposed to the open air, allowing you to have a fire in the cave - a "smoke hole" if you will.  (And yes, we absolutely will be having s'mores..)  But I'm not going to tell you any more about it though, because then it wouldn't be a secret, now would it?

However, I'm not totally heartless, which is why I've decided to let you guys in on a little list of some pretty legit cave hotels around the world.  They vary in their funky factors but this first one is pure perfection:

PERIVOLAS
Santorini, Greece

Consider it booked!

Consider it booked!

Srsly sweet, right?  Only accessible by boat, Perivolas sits atop a pumice mine.

SALA SILVER MINE HOTEL

Sala, Sweden

Can you say cool?  Um, yes you can because this hotel apparently gets down to 35 degrees.  So, needless to say, you'll definitely be wanting to bring a coat.  (TOTAL sidenote:  Click here to read an amusing story about coats and hashtags -> #coats

This hotel has one room and one room only and is located in old silver mine.  The bedroom is 509 feet below ground and is replete with winding galleries, water-filled caverns, and full-on lakes.

MUSEUM HOTEL

Cappadocia, Turkey

I'd say "Museum Hotel" befits these accommodations quite nicely.  And the cave even has some windows.. Not too shabby!

KOKOPELLI'S CAVE BED AND BREAKFAST
Farmington, New Mexico

Definitely has that homey feeling going on.. The question is: Is it maybe too home-grown?  I'm undecided.   They do have a waterfall shower, Jacuzzi, TV and views of all of the Four Corners states... I can't say I have that at my home...

GAMIRASU CAVE HOTEL
Urgup, Turkey

CAPPADOCIA CAVE RESORT
Nevsehir, Turkey

Yes, that is the "spa."  GNARLY!

SERINN HOUSE
Urgup, Turkey

I would also be quite content to stay here.. Just sayin'.

Anyway, I really hope your weekends are just splendid!  I will be back to resume posting on Monday, provided I don't get eaten by some wilderness animal or get mauled to death by a mountain lion.  #fingerscrossed

A Hail Mary Post

So... I'm going to come clean with you guys.. I flew back to LA from Colorado today and our flight was delayed for three hours... which (as I found out en-route) garnered us free "adult" beverages.  I say us because, coincidentally my friend from college was on the flight too!  Yay!  And, long story short, I'm not one to pass up a good deal when I see one.. SO: I'm writing this article a little buzzed.  But because I'm not too far gone to know that writing a long post in this state would be a bad idea, I am going to give you a truly epic photo, and hope that the age-old adage will apply in this situation...

"A picture is worth a thousand words"

(By that measurement, this might be my longest post to date).

Did I deliver or did I deliver?

Did I deliver or did I deliver?

And P.S. I have the same blanket as the one pictured.  I got it from this awesome antique store and according to the sales clerk, got an insane deal (which I'm sure she says to everyone).  Apparently these blankets are quite the collector's item. But the coolest part about my blanket is that it smells like syrup... And because I'm a freak, I LOVE that it does.

Anyway, have a good night y'all!  I think I will too! :)

Pinterest Piqued

Since my late-to-the-game debut into Pinterest, I have also been privy to Pinterest's (in my opinion) overbearing email marketing.  Don't get me wrong, I lurve Pinterest, but they HAVE to know addicted I already am, so why they must they add to my daily email barrage?

Just as I was about to reach a point of actual frustration with the beloved Pinterest, life pulled its usual stunt and mocked my very convictions by hitting me with an email from the "P" that I found so exciting that and am now writing a blog article about it.

Here was the gist of the email:

Did you know you can follow the home decor related boards of Lauren Conrad, Diane Keaton, and Jessica Alba...!?

Because the email was from Pinterest itself, I trusted that these were the true boards of the celebrities themselves.  I'm sure this concept is not all that different from what Twitter is, when you follow a famous person, but since I don't use Twitter, to me, it is profound.  And if you really dissect the differences between following a celebrity on Twitter versus one on Pinterest, I think it comes down to this: On Pinterest it feels like you're getting a less edited version.  Celebrities (like everyone) seem to craft what they put on Twitter as a means to influence and mold their image as well as trying to garner online activity from the tweet or even Facebook post with a motive to promote.  With Pinterest, pins seems to come more from a personal place in which you are trying to file, store and organize images that are important to you for your own personal benefit.  What you Pin doesn't have an overwhelming influence on your public persona.

And thus, when I opened the email to delete it, a switch went on and I was desperately trying to follow each celebrity board as though this exciting opportunity would be for a limited time only.  I'm sure all you "Pinners" are getting tailored emails sent to you as well based on your pinning habits and who knows, maybe even got "access" to a list of other celebrities' home decor blogs.. but I'm weirdly psyched that I know what kind of interior design styles Jess, Diane and Lo are all about. So basically I'm every marketers ideal target maret.

So if you want to pinterestalk along with me, here are the links for the aforementioned celeb home boards.

Lauren Conrad

Diane Keaton

Jessica Alba

If you think it's a little too "groupie", let me just show you some of the gems I found on these famous people's boards:

From the LC "Collection"

From the Keaton "Collection"

From the Alba "Collection"

Are you convinced yet?  Come on, join me in this voyeuristic portal into the inside lives of select celebs... you know you secretly want to..
